16. Life with a reactive dog, with special guest @arielthebrindle

Do you live with a reactive dog? What is your dog reactive too?

My special guest is dog mom to a reactive dog and we talk about what life is like and how she has been using positive reinforcement training to change her dogs behavior.

By using a high value reward to pair with your dogs triggers you will be able to change your dogs emotional response to the trigger. You’ll know you are on the right track when your dogs body language start to loosen and they are able to turn back to you in anticipation of a reward. By changing your dogs emotional response you will also get rid of the unwanted barking, lunging, pulling behavior.

If you have a reactive dog and need help with training please reach out. I am happy to work with you remotely or connect you with a qualified trainer in your area!

Remember to do your research when you are looking for a trainer. Trainers should be transparent about what will happen to your dog if they get it right and what will happen if they get it wrong. There is no need to use harsh tools such as pinch collars or shock (e) collars.

This is the organization that I am certified through. CCPDT
